What happens at RYLA?

Sorry, but you're going to have to come along and find out for yourself!

What are my obligations?

Your obligations before RYLA are:
Well...turn up to the bus stop with your bag packed!

Your obligations during RYLA are:
To come with an open mind, come prepared to learn and have fun.

Your obligations after RYLA are:
You will have just had the most amazing week and this would be thanks to a Rotary club or your work. It is expected that you will go to the Rotary club that sponsored you and share your experience with them at one of their meetings. It is your responsibility to contact them after RYLA.

What does it cost?

It costs the participants nothing to attend. A Rotary club or your workplace will pay for your attendance. The cost per participant for Rotary clubs is $850 if paid before 30 April or $950 if paid after this date. For corporate sponsorship, the cost is $1,450.

Is there an age limit?

The age group, to be used as a guide, is 18 – 26. There have been people older on RYLA, but you must be 18 by 29 June 2019 to attend RYLA due to Queensland Government Blue Card regulations.

Is it OK to be scared?

ABSOLUTELY! Not because there is anything scary happening, but because we all get scared about the unknown, and you don't know much about this do you :o)

Why won't you tell me anything?

It is all part of the process. Some of the lessons come from your reaction to not knowing what is going on...!

If I have special needs, allergies or meal requirements, what do I do?

Please make a note of this in the medical section of your application. One of your friendly RYLA coordinators will contact you in the week leading up to RYLA to clarify your needs.
